A bibliographical handlist of their book production from 1919-1955 by Robin Phillips
submitted in part requirement for the University of London Diploma in Librarianship, September 1963. Awarded 1963
Oliver Simon came to the Curwen Press, Plaistow, London E.13 in 1919, after approaching its director, Harold Curwen. From then till his death in 1955 he made a major contribution to British typography, which was acknowledged by the award of the O.B.E. in 195-. He led and enlarged the book production of the Curwen Press, which in 1933 became a legally separate company from the music publishing house which had given it birth. In Bloomsbury and in Plaistow Simon worked along with artists and printers to "get the spirit of Joy in your printed things"; Stanley Morison may be the better-known of the pair, but Simon's contribution was just as vital.
I now propose to make my bibliography, with its detailed technical descriptions of each book they produced, more widely available to booksellers, printing historians, and special collection librarians through the medium of the Internet.

I hope to make the complete list of descriptions available
I hope also to enlarge the work and add references to other works which deal with Curwen Press and its history.
